HR Generalist
Stoney Creek Community Homes Inc. (SCCHI) is a non-profit affordable housing provider. We own and manage properties throughout Stoney Creek. We also manage properties in Simcoe, Brantford, and Halton, through an associated company.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Human Resources Generalist will provide administrative and finance support to Stoney Creek Community Homes and any other housing providers to whom Stoney Creek Community Services Corporation is contracted to provide staff management services. In total, our staff number approximately 30-33 people located at various sites.
In this role the HR Generalist will take responsibility for all aspects of Human Resources, up to but not including terminations, as well as Workplace Violence and Harassment Investigations. They will take an active role in developing and implementing the company Health and Safety Program, including participation in the WSIB Health and Safety Excellence Program. The HR Generalist will, together with senior management, develop company policy and administration manuals, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
The HR Generalist is solely responsible for full cycle Payroll, Benefits, and Pension administration as well as overseeing the company Time Off entitlements and Lieu Time management (Cumulative Time Owed). They also aid the finance department by performing all banking duties such as depositing cheques and cash and printing cheques, plus recording receivables, generating reports and other duties as required.
This role requires the successful candidate to become involved in promoting a culture of safety and collaboration through company luncheons, safety meetings, training, and other suitable activities. This is an opportunity to showcase your creativity!
Working in the role will require adherence to the Employment Standards Act (ESA), the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), and any other relevant regulations, while achieving the mission of the company.
SCCHI and its associated companies take workplace and tenant safety very seriously and participation in the Joint Health and Safety Committee is expected.
Some travel to remote sites is required.
Hours of Work
Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm or 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting Salary: $61,500 - $63,900
Company RPP with matching 6% contributions
Health and Dental Benefits
3 weeks’ vacation to start
5 days personal time plus 5 days sick time
Mileage as per company policy
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be tactful, diplomatic, and discreet. They must be willing to collaborate between departments to achieve the aims of the company. The candidate will be able to generate and analyze reports using Excel and our property management software (Yardi) with efficiency and is skilled using Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
Two (2) or more years of Human Resources and/or Payroll responsibility is a requirement. We are willing to train HR candidates on the payroll function and are willing to train Payroll candidates on HR functions.
An HR Payroll Association or National Payroll Institute designation would be an asset. (e.g., CHRP, CHRL, PCP)
Demonstrated experience drafting and editing procedures and policies is an asset.
Workplace Violence and Harassment Investigation Certification is an asset. Willingness to train is required.
The HR Generalist must have clear, concise written language skills.
Joint Health and Safety Committee certification and experience is an asset. We are willing to pay for certification.
Experience working with IT systems is an asset.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License. The use of a motor vehicle is required as a condition of employment.
