Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology, the Computer Support Technician performs technical work in the administration of a local area computer network including hardware, software, and the provision of support to end users. The successful candidates will be members of the broader NLSchools - Department of Education Information Technology team.
Duties and responsibilities include analyzing and troubleshooting operating problems in both hardware and software, developing and implementing changes to rectify the problems, responding to user requests, installing, configuring and maintaining computers, mobile devices and peripherals, performing help desk functions, updating and maintaining IT asset records, providing computer consultation advice and services to staff, providing training to end users on the use of new hardware or software, and providing telephone and online support to departmental projects. May provide either on-site or remote technical support. Other related duties as assigned.

While initially subject to classification, this role is anticipated to become a permanent position once the classification process is finalized.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum: 2 year post-secondary Diploma in Information Technology or a computer related field.

Minimum: 1 to 2 years of experience.

Ability to maintain computer systems and networks.

Ability to provide technology support.

Strong client service, analytical, interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills. This includes:
the ability to listen to information and ask questions to diagnose and resolve the client's concerns/problem

provide expert advice to guide a user through the problem solving steps

provide direction to others in the use of software or hardware
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Ability to work as part of and to contribute to a cohesive team.

Applicants must hold a valid driver's license and have reliable personal transportation for required travel between NLSchools locations.
