About MSB Mechanical:
MSB Mechanical is a leading unionized mechanical contractor in the GTA, providing commercial service and construction solutions for heating, cooling, gas, and hydronic systems across complex facilities — including mission-critical buildings and data centres. We are seeking a senior, hands-on Lead/Foreman Technician to join our highly versatile service team.
Position Summary:
This role is ideal for an experienced HVAC/Refrigeration technician ready to step into a leadership position within our service department. You will lead in-field technicians, support quotations, and take ownership of service work for key accounts, including data centres and other critical facilities, while also supporting construction installations.
Scope of Work Includes:
- Power burners
- Make-up air units (MUA)
- Rooftop units (RTUs)
- AHUs and large commercial equipment
- Plumbing and hydronic heating systems
- Boilers and pumps
- BAS/BMS interface and troubleshooting
- Precision cooling systems in data centres (CRAH, CRAC, in-row cooling)
- Chilled water plants, heat exchangers, buffer tanks, and glycol systems
- Support on construction installations and start-ups as required
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as foreman for in-field service technicians
- Lead refrigeration and cooling service for data centres and mission-critical facilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, service, and maintain commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and hydronic systems
- Assist with quotations, repair pricing, and preventative maintenance contracts
- Provide exceptional customer service and keep clients informed of all work completed
- Coordinate daily activities with the service office and management team
- Complete and submit electronic work orders and reports using tablets/handheld devices
- Support construction crews during installations, tie-ins, and start-ups
- Work safely in live environments with zero-downtime expectations and strict permit procedures
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid Ontario G Driver’s License
- Valid G1 Gas Technician License (G2 preferred); 313A Refrigeration License required
- WHMIS and Working at Heights certifications
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience servicing RTUs, MUAs, AHUs, boilers, and hydronic systems
- Strong hydronic and boiler experience required
- Experience with power burners and large commercial equipment essential
- Experience in data centres or mission-critical facilities, including CRAH/CRAC units, in-row cooling, chilled water and DX systems considered a strong asset
- Familiarity with redundant N+1 / 2N systems and zero-downtime procedures
- Experience with BAS/BMS platforms (Delta, Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider, etc.)
- Previous experience leading technicians or acting in a foreman role
- Experience assisting with quoting repairs and preventative maintenance contracts
- Comfortable using digital service software and mobile technology
- Clean criminal record required for work in government and secure facilities
