Mackenzie Health is currently recruiting a full-time Clinical Psychiatrist who will be accountable to the Chief and Medical Director, Department of Psychiatry and the Program Director for clinical and operational management within the Psychiatry Program. The Physician will work in consultation with the Chief of Psychiatry as well as the other physicians within the department. There is an on-call requirement.
The physician must complete a full credentialing application and must have their appointment approved by the Medical Advisory Committee and Board of Directors. The appointment will not be official until the approval of the Board of Directors has been obtained. The physician will be credentialed according to the terms specified in the Hospital By-laws.
The Physician must demonstrate the following competencies:
Assess patients to diagnose the nature and extent of mental health disorders.
Assess and treat hospitalized patients.
Manage patients through the continuum of hospital care.
Order treatments, tests, and consults with specialty physicians and primary care physicians where necessary.
Prescribe, direct, and administer medications to treat various mental health and behavioral disorders.
Counsel outpatients during office visits and implement appropriate care plans.
Assume MRP on patients when deemed appropriate, including assuming the rounding and discharge process.
Provide consultation on patients already admitted.
Prepare and submit case reports and summaries as required for MOH reporting criteria where required.
Perform such duties and services as may be reasonably assigned by the Chief and Medical Director, Psychiatry.
Demonstrate understanding of, compliance with, and commitment to patient safety responsibilities and corresponding program plans, policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients.
Comply with intradepartmental rules.

Education – Certification – Licenses
Medical degree approved by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) required.
Certification in Psychiatry as recognized by The Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) required.
Canadian Medical Protection Association in good standing.
Member of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA).
Preferred candidates would possess 3 to 5 years’ experience.
