Position Summary
Pharmacist, OP Pharmacy
You will contribute to overall patient care through involvement in dispensing and drug distribution, patient oriented pharmacy services in outpatient settings, drug information and educational programs. You`re also a great relationship builder, communicate effectively with peers across the entire organization and effortlessly connect with physicians, staff,
patients, and families. You are highly organized, have great interpersonal skills, demonstrate critical thinking and reasoning skills and adapt well in a dynamic environment. You will take on the shared responsibility for ensuring that health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.
On a practical level, you will
- Maintain activities in the drug store, supervise the dispensary, day to day drug procurement, ODB and third party billing and cash procedures. Provide relief and coverage for outpatient pharmacists
- Provide patient-oriented services in compliance with standards of practice – medication order assessment, medication profiling, pharmacotherapy monitoring, interdisciplinary participation, drug use evaluation, adverse drug reaction reporting, medication counseling, medication incident reporting and follow-up, and medication history service
- Participate in drug information and other educational activities within the department, on the nursing units and throughout the hospital
- Responsible for the activities of the pharmacy technician assigned on a day to day basis
- Follow all hospital and governmental (Federal and Provincial) rules and regulations set to control the dispensing to the general public and the distribution of medications, and to provide high quality services within the hospital
- Responsible for working safely in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited university Pharmacy Program (Bachelor Level)
- Licensed under Part A of the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Minimum one-year Pharmacy retail experience
- Demonstrated pharmacological knowledge
- Deductive reasoning, attention to detail and medication safety
- Demonstrated pharmaceutical skills and techniques, e.g., sterile procedures
- Accurate typing skills
- Knowledge of Kroll computer system an asset
- Knowledge of cash handling
