Job Description
The Sales Engineer works with HVAC equipment manufacturers, customers, contractors, public and private institution representatives, engineering technicians, contractors and subcontractors to facilitate the sale, ordering, delivery, installation, and maintenance of specialized HVAC equipment and control systems.
Responsibility – Project Management
- Manage HVAC construction projects primarily through communication and coordination with building owners, project managers, contractors, engineers, and other customers.
- Organize and manage project coordination meetings and on-site walk-throughs.
- Provide direction and supervision to subcontractors and technicians to facilitate the completion of project goals.
- Manage project safety documentation and work with safety departments, consultants, and organizations to ensure safety standards, practices, and guidelines are enforced and followed.
Responsibility – Equipment Selection and Submission
- Coordinate with manufacturers, owners, engineers, and contractors to facilitate the design and selection of HVAC equipment and systems.
- Select and design HVAC equipment and systems to the standards required based on engineering plans and specifications.
- Create wiring diagrams for use by electricians and other contractors during the installation and startup of equipment.
- Compile equipment data sheets and wiring diagrams for project submittals.
Responsibility – Customer Support, Sales, Parts, and Service
- Develop and maintain favorable relationships with new and existing customers for sales of equipment, products, and systems represented by Aqua Air to help achieve goals for sales and customer deliverables.
- Provide timely quotes and sales support for new jobs and retrofit work.
- Provide materials and labor cost estimates and quotes for parts and service work.
- Provide informed responses to questions and inquiries from customers about equipment specifications, issues, and operations.
- Coordinate and work with customers to quickly troubleshoot resolve equipment or control system issues, should they arise.
- Manage field technician schedules to accommodate planned maintenance, scheduled project work and service calls.
- Complete Return Material Acquisition (RMA) orders.
- Coordinate shipping receiving and delivery for project and service work.
Responsibility – Project Proposal/Analysis
- Utilize engineering-based tools and software to complete analysis on the cost saving benefits for potential projects that primarily involve the installation of energy saving equipment and systems.
- Compile reports for customers with the aim of creating interest in the proposed project.
- Present to customers proposed projects using tools such Prezi and PowerPoint.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering fields; heat transfer, thermodynamics, fan affinity laws, fluid mechanics, and electrical communication systems.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral. Speak and write fluently for technical and non-technical applications in the English language.
- Critical thinker, able to solve problems with effective custom solutions.

Education and Experience
- BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
- Member of APEGBC or similar association, as an E.I.T. or P. Eng.
- 1-3 years: HVAC Application Engineering.
- Construction project management. Sales or other customer facing roles.
- Mechanical or electrical technical service and support.
Physical & other requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to access and navigate constricted areas of industrial and commercial facilities.
- A valid B.C. driver’s license.
- A reliable and respectable vehicle for business use.
- Occasional travel to other provinces and the United States.
- A valid Canadian Passport.
Pay: $75,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
