Overview
We are seeking skilled and dedicated Welders for the Afternoon Shift to join our customer's manufacturing team. This role involves performing precise welding operations to fabricate, repair, and assemble metal components according to detailed blueprints and schematics. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in various welding techniques, and experience with construction and manufacturing environments. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality projects while working in a dynamic and safety-conscious setting.
Responsibilities:
- Laying out, positioning, and securing parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straight edge, combination square, calipers, ruler and other tools and gauges.
- Weld and assemble parts and components.
- Able to determine differences between all dock lift capacities and models.
- Able to train new employees with a high standard.
- Read and understand work orders (specifications).
- Ensure that minimum and maximum outputs quantities are met.
- MUST be able to transition between all benches on Dock Line and keep up with Tack Times.
- MUST be able to fabricate a Dock Leveler with all correct components.
- Use gauges, MIG-welding equipment, jigs and fixtures, grinders and measuring tools.
- Set machines for different types of materials and varying thickness.
- Ensure basic regular lubrication and maintenance of machines.
- Test and inspect completed work to ensure compliance with work orders when necessary.
- Follow scheduling dates to meet production goals.
- Welder must be able to transition between benches.
- Must be able to read blueprints to determine each weld for units with little guidance.
- Work efficiently and effectively on diversified tasks.
- Ability to scan barcodes for jobs as required by management.
- Complete documentation as required by management.
- Perform quality work.
- Keep work area neat and organized by following 6S.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Skills:
- Must have welding certification.
- Capable of reading blueprints/measuring tools.
- Capable of completing daily crane inspections.
- Able to lift a maximum of 25lbs.
- Work with little or no supervision.
- Excellent communication.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
- Work in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA, regulations and internal policies and procedures.
- Using or wearing the equipment, PPE that customer requires.
- Reporting to his or her supervisor any contravention of the OHSA, regulations, or customer policies and procedures.
- Reporting any observed hazards to the supervisor.
- Reporting any risks or potential risks of violence or harassment encountered in the workplace mmediately to supervisor.
- Not removing or making ineffective any protective device without providing an adequate temporary substitute. When the work is completed, the original protective device must be replaced immediately.
- Not using or operating any equipment, machine, device or thing or otherwise working in a manner that may endanger anyone.
- Knowing, understanding and implementing safe work practices and procedures.
- Attend all required Health and Safety training programs (ex: WHMIS, orientation), and applying knowledge to daily operating procedures at the Customer site.
Special consideration to individuals with:
- Industry experience.
- Assembly line experience.
- Overhead crane, lifting attachments/chains experience.
Education Requirements:
- Welding certification mandatory.
- Minimum Grade 12 education
Shift Timings:
Monday - Thursday --- 3PM to 12:30AM
Friday --- 3PM to 7PM
Pay: $23.50-$24.50 per hour
