Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Freight Broker to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will facilitate transportation and distribution processes, coordinate with carriers and clients, and optimize supply chain operations. This role offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment focused on process improvement, transportation management, and supply chain efficiency. The Freight Broker will play a vital role in ensuring timely delivery of freight, managing vendor relationships, and supporting overall logistics strategies using advanced systems such as ERP, WMS, AS400, and TMS platforms.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate freight shipments by liaising with carriers, warehouses, and clients to ensure efficient order fulfillment and delivery schedules.
- Manage transportation management systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and ERP platforms to track shipments, update statuses, and optimize routing.
- Oversee shipping & receiving operations, including order picking, packaging, and materials management to support warehouse distribution activities.
- Conduct data analysis to monitor freight costs, demand planning accuracy, and process improvements for supply chain optimization.
- Source carriers through procurement processes and negotiate pricing to secure competitive rates for freight services.
- Maintain accurate records of shipping documentation, procurement activities, and warehouse inventory using CMMS and AS400 systems.
- Support sourcing initiatives for freight services and warehouse supplies while ensuring compliance with safety standards such as forklift operation protocols.
- Collaborate on process improvement projects related to transportation management systems, demand planning, and overall logistics workflows.
- Assist in the development of strategies for 3PL partnerships, order fulfillment efficiencies, and e-commerce shipping solutions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in warehouse distribution, transportation management systems (TMS), or supply chain roles.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems (including AS400), procurement processes, and materials management.
- Familiarity with freight operations including shipping & receiving, order picking, packaging, sourcing, and demand planning.
- Experience working with 3PL providers or in logistics coordination within a warehouse environment.
- Data analysis skills to evaluate logistics performance metrics and identify process improvements.
- Ability to operate or coordinate the use of forklift equipment is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing pricing negotiations and sourcing activities.
- Knowledge of process improvement methodologies within transportation or warehouse settings is desirable.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments involved in shipping & receiving, procurement, and distribution functions.

Pay: $33,543.99-$112,144.96 per year
