Contract: 12 months | Hours: 20-25 per week | Location: North Vancouver

About the Role
MLI Homestay is seeking a motivated Local Coordinator to help connect international students with caring Canadian host families.
The key priority of this role is recruiting, onboarding, and retaining host families to ensure a strong, reliable homestay network across North Vancouver.
You will build genuine relationships within the community, support families through the hosting process, and help students have a safe and positive stay in Canada.
This position suits someone who enjoys meeting people, networking locally, and providing meaningful support to youth and families.
Key Responsibilities
Host Recruitment, Development, and Retention
- Actively recruit, screen, and orient new host families year-round through outreach and community engagement.
- Maintain close, positive relationships with existing hosts to encourage retention.
- Conduct home visits, orientations, and safety checks for all new host families.
- Ensure all hosts meet MLI Homestay’s standards and have completed up-to-date background checks.
- Keep the host inventory database accurate and up to date to align with placement needs.
- Collaborate closely with the Head Office to forecast hosting needs and address inventory gaps in North Vancouver.
Student Placement and Care
- Match students with appropriate host families based on student profiles and family dynamics.
- Act as the local custodian and main contact for students during their stay.
- Monitor placements, provide support to students and hosts, and address any issues promptly.
- Visit students as needed and maintain consistent communication with the Head Office and Student Care Supervisor of North Vancouver.
Community Relations and Quality Assurance
- Represent MLI Homestay within the local community as an ambassador for the program.
- Support host families and students with empathy, respect, and professionalism.
- Help resolve host or student issues effectively and calmly.
- Participate in host appreciation and community engagement activities.
Administration and Reporting
- Maintain detailed and accurate records in MLI systems.
- Complete incident and monthly reports in a timely manner.
- Support with invoicing and other administrative needs.
- Respond promptly to host and student inquiries.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in sales, recruitment, or community engagement (required).
- Experience in education, youth programs, or travel (asset).
- Previous homestay coordination or hosting experience is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with diverse families and communities.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Professional, calm, and diplomatic in managing sensitive situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required.
- Flexibility to take calls or respond to urgent matters outside standard work hours.
- Functional PC with MS Office and a smartphone required.
