About Al Huda Elementary/Secondary School (AHES): AHES is a non-profit, Islamic private school committed to academic excellence and character development. About the role: AHES is looking for a qualified Physical Education and Health Teacher for Girls to teach in grades 4 to 9 for the 2026-276 academic school year. We offer a culturally diverse environment where you can work and live your faith in a supportive community. The successful candidate should be energetic, enthusiastic and disciplined and should have some experience teaching PE and health education to students in a classroom setting. The PE & Health Teacher will be a role model to students, inspiring them to be active and interested in physical activity and a healthy lifestyle in accordance with AHES’s values and the Ontario Curriculum.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Plan and instruct students on safe ways to maintain fitness and how to play different sports based on their grade level.
- Teach health education units under the school curriculum in a classroom setting.
- Conduct assessments that test students' knowledge of physical education areas like health science, sports, and nutrition
- Monitor students' progress and physical development in areas such as exercise and motor skills.
- Organize and coach selected sports teams (volleyball, basketball, soccer).
- Prepare report cards following the expected guidelines and conduct parent-teacher interviews.
- Ensure that all reasonable safety procedures are carried out in gym activities and events.
Qualification & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in physical education or a similar field; job-specific certification is an asset
- Sound knowledge of Islamic values
- Knowledge of the current Ontario Curriculum
- Previous teaching experience with groups of school-aged children in a formal setting
- Effective classroom management and organizational skills that result in a positive learning environment
- Excellent leadership skills that result in effective role modelling
- Strong communication skills
Compensation:
Remuneration based on experience and qualifications.
