Equipment Operator
General Description:
The Oshawa Executive Airport (CYOO) is a certified airport, operated by the City of Oshawa. Total Aviation & Airport Solutions (TAAS) is the operational management company for the Oshawa Airport and operates and manages the airport on behalf of the City of Oshawa.
We are looking for a mature and responsible individual to join our airport operations team for the 2026/2027 winter season. The Equipment Operator position encompasses a variety of airport related inspections, maintenance and equipment operations. The Equipment Operator position will report to the Airport Operations Manager and their responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Completing Airfield Inspections in accordance with the airport Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
· Completing airfield bulk plant inspections;
· Undertaking airfield wildlife monitoring, response and prevention;
· Undertaking general repairs and maintenance to airfield lighting and signage;
· Undertaking truck fueling and defueling associated with the airfield bulk plant operation;
· Undertaking general repairs and preventative maintenance work on all airport surfaces;
· Responding to airport tenant, user and public inquiries;
· Operating a variety of unique heavy equipment to maintain the airport’s airside and public surfaces;
· Performing snow removal operations;
· Conducting daily terminal janitorial cleaning;
· Carrying out other duties relative to this position as required.
Scheduled Hours:
· Three (3) days: 6:00am – 3:00pm, three (3) days: 2:00pm – 11:00pm & three (3) days off.
· Our nine (9) week averaging schedule results in 37.33 hours / week.
· Additional hours for winter operations: Day shift may change to 6:00am – 6:00pm, afternoon shift may change to 2:00pm – 2:00am or 6:00pm – 6:00am.
o Note 1: due to operational factors, the notice of this schedule change may not be communicated until noon on the same day as scheduled.
o Note 2: some shifts may extend beyond 12 hours based on operational need.
· All hours are paid at straight time, and any hours beyond regular hours are accumulated as banked time to be used for time off during the summer.
· Stat days worked are accumulated and paid time off is provided in lieu.
· The position is temporary from December 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027.
· On occasion your work schedule may be modified due to operational and training needs. Appropriate notice will be provided.
Skills/Experience/Training Required:
· Must have a G2 or G Ontario Driver’s, or other equivalent recognized by the Government of Ontario;
· Must have a reliable source of transportation;
· Must have a reliable cell phone;
· Must submit a driver’s abstract;
· Strong oral and written communication skills in English;
· Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot in a fast-paced environment;
· Excellent organizational skills and initiative;
· Must have a minimum education of Ontario Grade 12, GED or other equivalent form of education recognized by the Government of Ontario;
