Our client, a well-established law firm with a growing family law practice, is looking to add a Family Law Paralegal to its New Westminster office. This is a great opportunity for a junior to intermediate paralegal looking to develop their experience within a busy, collaborative legal environment. Family law experience is preferred, but candidates with broader legal experience and a strong interest in family law may also be considered.
Compensation
- $60,000–$85,000 per annum, depending on experience

Responsibilities
- Draft correspondence, pleadings, affidavits, financial statements, and other legal documents
- Prepare Lists of Documents, chambers and trial binders, books of authorities, and other court materials
- Coordinate filings, process service, and court agent requirements
- Maintain bring-forward systems and monitor important dates and deadlines
- Manage lawyers’ calendars, including court appearances and client meetings
- Coordinate hearings, trials, discoveries, mediations, settlement conferences, pre-trial conferences, and other court-related matters
- Assist with judicial conferences and family case conferences
- Use DivorceMate to assist with family law forms and pleadings
- Conduct BC Online, title, PPSA, and other searches
- Obtain marriage certificates and other required documentation
- Respond to incoming correspondence and assist with day-to-day file administration
- Assist with file organization, closing, and general administrative duties
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Paralegal program
- Previous experience in a legal environment; family law experience is preferred
- Exposure to litigation and court procedures is an asset
- Strong Microsoft Word skills, including styles, cross-references, and multi-level numbering
- Excellent organizational and file management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to work
- Proficiency in Korean or Mandarin is an asset
