We are searching for Underground Construction Miners to join us at multiple project sites across Ontario. At Shafts and Tunnels, the Underground Construction Miner supports underground construction and mine development activities across active project sites throughout Ontario. This role is responsible for completing hands-on underground work safely and efficiently, including ground support, service installation, material handling, civil works, and general mining support as required by the project.
This opportunity may include both day and night shift rotations. The successful candidate will bring practical underground experience, a strong commitment to safe work practices, and the ability to work effectively as part of a project-based crew.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform underground construction and mine development activities including excavation support, civil works, and installation of underground services.
- Install and assist with ground support systems including rock bolts, mesh, screen, straps, shotcrete prep/support, resin/grout bolts, and related materials as required.
- Assist with drilling, bolting, scaling, service installation, formwork, rebar, concrete pours, grouting, and other underground construction tasks.
- Operate or assist with underground tools and equipment including jacklegs, stoppers, drills, scissor lifts/manlifts, telehandlers, service vehicles, and other equipment within qualification.
- Load, haul, stage, and handle materials and supplies underground.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections, identify hazards, and report unsafe conditions or equipment concerns immediately.
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas and support effective housekeeping underground.
- Complete work in accordance with company procedures, project plans, client/site standards, and Ontario regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, equipment operators, engineers, and other trades regarding work progress, equipment status, and any encountered issues.
- Assist with other general underground support or labouring duties as project needs dictate.
Required Experience, Training & Certifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of underground mining, underground construction, or related mine site experience.
- Underground Common Core for Soft Rock and Hard Rock environments.
- Valid WHMIS and Working at Heights certifications.
- Experience with underground services, ground support, construction support, material handling, and general mine support work.
- Ability to work day and night shift rotations at various project sites throughout Ontario.
- Strong safety awareness, communication skills, and ability to work well within a crew environment.
Pay: $70.00-$80.00 per hour
