Own the shift, yard opens to yard close. Ride Transit Inc. operates the ArGo on-demand electric transit service for the Town of Caledon, and the Operations Supervisor is the person the whole shift runs through: every bus that pulls out has been cleared by you, every driver on the road reports to you, and you hold real authority — deploy a spare, relieve a driver, hold a vehicle, or take the wheel in an emergency, without waiting for approval.
This is not a desk job. You lead from the yard at 4:30 AM or in the afternoon, and from the road, backed by a live operations platform and a purpose-built command system. You report directly to the General Manager.
WHAT YOU'LL COMMAND
- Pre-service: Open the yard, verify every electric bus is charged and inspected, confirm driver attendance, and run the Go/No-Go gate — no bus pulls out without your sign-off
- Active service: Run the watch (live fleet status, charging, incidents) on the operations platform; respond to any road call within 15 minutes and any driver within 5; run hot-swaps and spare-board activations that keep every trip covered
- Incident command: From a late trip to a collision, you own the response and the client notification clocks
- End of day: Every bus returned, inspected, plugged in and charging confirmed; defects flagged; end-of-day report released; yard secured
- Training & standards: Deliver hands-on road training for drivers, co-sign service clearances, and hold the DVIR, securement, and conduct standards every day after
PAY & TERMS
- $27.00–$30.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
- Permanent full-time · overtime paid after 44 hours/week (Ontario ESA)
- Structured shifts on a 7-day rotation across the operating day (approx. 4:30 AM–12:30 PM · 12:30 PM–8:30 PM)
- Service launches August 31, 2026.
WHAT YOU NEED (MANDATORY)
- Valid Ontario Class F, C, or B licence — you must be able to operate the bus as an emergency driver (Class G is not eligible)
- Acceptable 3-year driver's abstract (max 2 minor convictions, no criminal driving convictions)
- Criminal record & vulnerable sector check, complete before first day
- Minimum 3 years operating or supervising transit or accessible passenger transport
- Minimum 3 years managing drivers or coordinating a vehicle fleet.
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada
- Willingness to complete Ontario OHSA supervisor (s. 27) awareness training — provided by us in your first week
NICE TO HAVE
- Accessible/paratransit experience (Wheel-Trans, Handi-Transit or similar) · app-dispatched or on-demand platforms · mobility-device securement certification · spare board / on-call pool management · EV fleet, charging, or DVIR familiarity
Work location is the Ride Transit operations yard in the Town of Caledon, Ontario, and the Caledon service area. Report times may vary. You must have reliable personal transportation to reach the yard and any location your manager assigns.
Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour
Experience:
- operating/supervising transit/accessible passenger transport: 3 years (preferred)
