Responsible for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) assessment and treatment for clients with complex communication disorders.
- Assess and treat clients with complex communication needs, and implement intervention according to regulatory requirements
- Recommend, prescribe, and evaluate use of AAC equipment, techniques, and strategies
- Provide education, training, and counseling to clients/caregivers and interprofessional team members
- Provide clinical education to SLP and Communicative Disorders Assistant students, as necessary
- Provide clinical supervision to Communicative Disorders Assistants
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within interprofessional teams, both service-based and Centre-wide
- Pursue continuous professional development and contribute to evidence-based practice development
- Fulfill role and responsibilities according to requirements of an ADP-Designated Expanded Level Service
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule, as appropriate
- Complete timely and thorough clinical documentation
- Complete clinical workload
- Participate in clinical revenue generating services of the Centre, as required
- Be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors including:
- Compliance with the safety standards of the hospital and applicable legislation
- Identification and prevention of safety issues and problems
- Taking corrective action, where possible
- Attendance at safety meetings/training/updates in accordance with the Centre’s standards
- Evidence of satisfactory attendance record
- An employee’s disciplinary record will be reviewed as part of the assessment of qualifications
