We are a busy boutique law firm located at Yonge and Steeles, specializing in real estate law, private lending, mortgage financing, and mortgage enforcement throughout Ontario.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Real Estate Law Clerk to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking to expand their expertise in both real estate transactions and mortgage enforcement while working directly with an experienced lawyer in a collaborative and professional environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Ontario real estate law (3+ years preferred).
- Law Clerk Diploma or equivalent legal experience.
- Experience handling residential and commercial real estate transactions independently.
- Experience with private mortgages and mortgage enforcement matters is considered a strong asset.
- Thorough knowledge of Teraview, Stewart Title, FCT Platforms. PC Law, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple files and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage residential and commercial real estate transactions from opening to closing, including purchases, sales, refinances, and private mortgage transactions.
- Draft and prepare all documentation relating to real estate transactions.
- Conduct title and off-title searches and review search results.
- Prepare statements of adjustments, reporting letters, mortgage documentation, and closing packages.
- Liaise with clients, lenders, borrowers, financial institutions, and opposing counsel.
- Assist lawyers with mortgage enforcement matters, including:
- Notices of Sale under Mortgage Act
- Statements of Claim
- Motions for Writ of Possession
- Mortgage payouts and redemption calculations
- Enforcement and collection proceedings
- Maintain accurate file records and ensure all deadlines are met.
- Provide administrative and file management support as required.
