CTV News Channel is looking for an experienced News Writer to work alongside our producers and anchors. The successful candidate has excellent news judgment and the highest journalistic standards. Location: 9 Channel Nine Court, Agincourt
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required
Job Duties/ Responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced News Writer who thrives in a live breaking news environment. The ideal candidate must have a keen interest in Canadian news, politics and global affairs. The responsibilities will include but are not limited to writing clear, concise and accurate news stories for CTV News Channel. The newsroom is fast-paced and we are looking for someone who works well under pressure, is able to meet deadlines and has strong written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will also be a motivated, self-starter who is keen to train on other newsroom roles like line-up editor.
Experience writing in a local/national television newsroom
Proven ability to multi-task
Ability to prioritize several simultaneous duties and meet deadlines
Proven ability to write to pictures and sound
Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
Thorough understanding of libel, slander and copyright law
Well versed in social media
Ability to work in a team, and be self-motivated
Broadcast or Journalism diploma or degree
Control Room experience an asset
iNews experience is an asset
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
