Arctic Canadian Diamond Company Ltd. is a Canadian diamond mining company situated approximately 200 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle in Canada’s Northwest Territories. The company operates the Ekati Diamond Mine, in which it owns a controlling interest. It supplies rough diamonds to the global market through its sorting and selling operations in Canada and Belgium, and is Canada’s largest independent diamond producer.
Arctic maximizes the sales value of its rough stones from the Ekati Diamond Mines and maintains a preferred position as a supplier of rough diamonds to the world’s diamond manufacturers (cutters and polishers) by dealing directly with them and tailoring rough diamond parcels to the client’s particular needs.

As a member of the Supply Chain Team, the Supply Chain Coop Student will report to the Manager - SCM Business Support, and work a 5x2 rotation, Monday to Friday, at the Calgary Office. The Supply Chain Coop Student will assist in activities relating to buying, inventory, warehouse, and contract management to support the remote Ekati Mine Site.
Expedite and monitor Purchase Orders (PO) and update associated PO’s accordingly;
Communicate with vendors and business stakeholders as required; provide order status updates as well as address any supply issues;
Support the business with the creation and completion of Material Master requests;
Provide support with the maintenance of purchasing information record accuracy and material master data integrity;
Assist in inventory optimization through analyzing and managing excess inventory;
Provide support to various Supply Chain personnel for RFPs (Request for Proposals), RFQs (Request for Quotes), and proposal evaluations;
Participate in the close out of Contracts and PO’s;
Update contract information in the contract management system such as but not limited to Insurance certifications, workers compensation certificates, contact information;
Support the business with procurement spend analysis;
Review and verify supplier invoices and complete the necessary reconciliation when required;
Create and update process documentation for various supply chain procedures;
Attend meetings and capture relevant decisions and action items;
Support in other Supply Chain related activities as required.
Applicants must currently be enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution with a major/minor in Supply Chain Management or Operations Management, or equivalent;
Prior work experience obtained through an Internship, Coop, or summer job will be considered an asset;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment;
Strong organizational and time management skills;
Ability to accurately analyze information and be adaptable to changing priorities;
Ability to work independently on assigned projects with minimal supervision;
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Suite of applications);
Experience with SAP will be considered an asset;
Team player who enjoys learning and contributing to team goals;
Positive attitude and willing to take initiative;
Legally entitled to work in Canada.
The Company provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other Northern fly points as indicated in the NWT Socio-Economic Agreement for the Ekati mine.
