Reporting to the Human Resources Manager with a dotted line report Director of Health & Safety, the Safety Supervisor will ensure compliance with applicable legislation, company standards, and continuous improvement with a focus on Safety.

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration
Years of Experience Required: 2-5 years of experience in Health & Safety
Experience in training and project management
Health and Safety background with experience conducting root cause incident investigations, hazard assessments, developing JHA’s, SOP’s and safety training programs would be considered an asset
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage team members and other stakeholders
Strong time management and organizational skills
Experience using Microsoft products as well as online MSDS management systems and incident reporting and tracking systems
Be willing to work towards completion of a certificate program in Occupational Health and Safety

Key Responsibilities:
As required, lead and/or assist with the completion of work place incident investigations and determination of root cause
Follow up and ensure actions plans related to workplace incidents are assigned and completed
Be the point of contact for provincial Occupational Health Safety and / or third part auditors
Develop, coordinate and manage the project charters for various safety projects
Prioritize the various safety and training projects
Facilitate the training associated with new safety procedures and programs
Be responsible for the proper safety and training documentation
Deliver progress reports and presentations on the various safety projects and training initiatives under way
Work as a resource for the site Occupational Health and Safety Committee
Provide leadership to the site Medical First Responder Unit and Fire Brigade
