What You'll Do
As a member of the Next Up Hoops coaching staff, you'll help create an exceptional experience for every athlete who wears our jersey.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and leading organized, engaging, and high-energy basketball practices.
- Coaching teams during league play, tournaments, showcases, and club events.
- Teaching basketball fundamentals, skill development, offensive and defensive concepts, and game strategy.
- Creating a positive, disciplined, competitive environment where athletes are challenged to become the best version of themselves.
- Mentoring athletes while helping them develop confidence, leadership, resilience, accountability, and strong character.
- Building meaningful relationships with athletes and families through professionalism, communication, and trust.
- Collaborating with fellow coaches and club leadership to deliver a consistent, high-quality experience across all Next Up programs.
- Evaluating athlete development and providing constructive feedback that helps players continue improving.
- Representing Next Up Hoops with professionalism, integrity, and pride both on and off the court.
- Continuing to grow through mentorship, collaboration, and coach development opportunities.

Whether you're an experienced coach, former collegiate or professional athlete, teacher, trainer, or someone passionate about giving back through basketball, we'd love to hear your story.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous basketball coaching experience is considered an asset.
- Competitive basketball playing experience is considered an asset.
- NCCP Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Availability during evenings and weekends.
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (or willingness to obtain).
