Role Summary:
Our Manitoba branch is looking for experienced Contract Sprinkler Technicians to join our team. A Contract Sprinkler Technician specializes in the areas of installation of sprinkler systems on primarily mid to large scale projects. The technician is crucial to ensuring that fire sprinkler systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with local codes and standards.
This is a unionized position, and the successful candidate must be either a current member or be eligible to join the union (Local 254).
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Installation: Install new sprinkler systems according to the design specifications and ensure they meet all local, provincial, and national codes and standards.
- Troubleshooting: Root cause identification of sprinkler system failures, taking the appropriate actions to rectify the problem.
- Customer Service: Provides excellent customer service by working with the prime contractor, attending job site meetings, coordinating with other trades and offering final owner training and maintenance tips.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of city inspections, test reports, As-Built drawrings and installation progress. Ensures all documentation is in compliance with AHJ requirements.
- Safety Compliance: Ensures all work is performed in accordance with Company, Provincial and local safety standards.
- Providing direction to on site personnel
- Inventory Management: Order and maintain project material inventory levels and equipment
- Other duties as required.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with fire sprinkler systems.
- Fire pump, dry and pre-action experience preferred.
- Sprinkler Fitter Journeyperson’s Certificate (Red Seal). ITM (Inspection testing and maintenance course), preferred.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools, diagnostic and testing equipment, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills to diagnose and fix issues efficiently.
- Ability to scrutinize project specifications and drawings meticulously to ensure accurate estimations.
- Precision and care in performing maintenance and repair tasks to ensure system reliability and integrity.
- In-depth knowledge of fire codes, regulations, and standards (NFPA/NBC Building codes).
- Has an ability to learn mobile software for on site job applications.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and positive attitude.
- Self-motivated with a results-driven approach to achieving targets.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle
