Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC) is a national professional body dedicated to advancing professional financial planning by developing, promoting and enforcing professional standards in financial planning.

FPSC is looking for a talented, committed and dynamic individual to join our Standards and Enforcement Department.

Associate Investigator (Toronto, 1-year contract)

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Managing Director, Standards, the Associate Investigator is responsible for identifying, gathering, processing and analyzing evidence for potential breaches of the Standards of Professional Responsibility . The Investigator engages in timely, consistent and fair investigation of a wide range of issues relating to the professional conduct of FPSC certificants.

Qualifications:
A professional degree or certification (LL.B., CPA or CFP ® certification preferred)

Investigative & Forensic Accounting (DIFA) diploma or Certified Forensic Investigator (CFI) certification and successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course are considered assets

2 to 4 years’ experience conducting investigations in a regulatory/administrative context

Familiarity with the financial services industry, insurance, tax, investments, estate or other financial planning related matters is an asset

Experience developing and executing investigation plans, conducting interviews and preparing investigation reports. Experience testifying as an expert or fact witness is an asset

Clear, concise and articulate communication skills (written and oral)

The ability to manage a complex, multi-issue and diverse caseload and a strong commitment to the application of administrative fairness

Fluency in French desired
