Junior Project Manager / Project Coordinator

Position Summary
Amber-Taylor Construction Group Inc. is seeking an organized, motivated, and hands-on Junior Project Manager to join our growing team. This position is ideal for an individual with experience in mechanical construction who is looking to advance their career in project management.
The successful candidate will assist in managing multiple mechanical construction projects, including plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal work, while supporting estimating, procurement, scheduling, and field operations. This role requires someone who is equally comfortable in the office and on the job site and who can effectively communicate with field crews, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
ResponsibilitiesProject Coordination & Management
- Assist in the planning, execution, and successful completion of mechanical construction projects.
- Monitor project schedules, milestones, and overall job progress.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure work is progressing safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate with field staff, foremen, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Track project costs and assist in maintaining project budgets.
- Identify and communicate project risks, delays, and potential issues.
Procurement & Material Management
- Source materials and obtain competitive pricing from suppliers.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders.
- Coordinate material deliveries to job sites.
- Track material lead times and proactively manage procurement schedules.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Field Support
- Monitor labour productivity and workforce requirements.
- Assist site supervisors and foremen in resolving project challenges.
- Ensure project documentation is maintained accurately.
- Participate in project meetings and maintain meeting minutes and action items.
Estimating & Pre-Construction Support
- Assist in preparing estimates and quotations for future projects.
- Obtain and review supplier and subcontractor pricing.
- Assist in preparing budgets, take-offs, and bid submissions.
- Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities and maintaining client relationships.
Administration & Documentation
- Maintain project files, drawings, specifications, and correspondence.
- Prepare change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project reports.
- Assist with project close-out documentation.
- Ensure all project records are organized and up to date.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in construction, project coordination, or project management.
- Experience within the plumbing, HVAC, and/or sheet metal industries is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical construction processes and sequencing.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with project management and estimating software is considered an asset.
- Experience using AutoCAD is considered a strong asset.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence and ability to travel to project sites.
