- We're looking for a Senior Assistant Editor to join our team full-time in our Toronto office. This is an in-office position, working closely alongside our editors, producers, and creative partners in a collaborative editorial environment.
About the Role
- The Senior Assistant Editor is a key member of our editorial team, supporting editors and producers throughout every stage of post-production. This role requires exceptional technical knowledge, organization, and communication skills, as well as the ability to anticipate project needs before they arise.
- The ideal candidate is proactive, highly collaborative, and passionate about delivering polished work while maintaining the highest technical standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare projects for editorial, including media ingest, syncing and organization.
- Build and maintain project structures, ensuring consistency across all jobs.
- Manage media, backups, archives, and file organization following company workflows.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide support to editors during offline and online workflows.
- Perform quality control on all outgoing media to ensure accuracy and technical excellence.
- Coordinate turnovers with external vendors and finishing partners.
- Manage versioning, revisions, and delivery specifications across multiple platforms.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as an Assistant Editor in commercial, advertising, television, or feature post-production.
- Advanced proficiency in Avid Media Composer and Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop).
- Experience with DaVinci Resolve workflows is an asset.
- Strong understanding of codecs, frame rates, colour spaces, media management, and delivery specifications.
- Experience working in shared storage and collaborative post-production environments.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, resourceful, and solutions-focused mindset.
