Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Deli Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food items, and maintaining a clean and organized deli area. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced food service environment where attention to detail and efficiency are essential. Prior experience in food handling or the food industry is preferred but not required, as training will be provided. The Deli Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of deli foods, including slicing meats, cheeses, and preparing sandwiches
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with selections, answering questions, and upselling products when appropriate
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the deli area, including food preparation surfaces, equipment, and display cases
- Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed to meet health and safety standards
- Restock supplies as needed to ensure product availability throughout the shift
- Manage time effectively to serve customers efficiently during busy periods
- Follow all food safety regulations and sanitation protocols to ensure a safe environment for both customers and staff
- Must be able to work all weekend and evenings
- Ability to be on your feet all day
- Ability to slice high volumes of meat on a deli slicer
Experience
- Previous experience in food service or the food industry is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for those new to the role
- Experience with food preparation, serving, cashiering, or restaurant operations is advantageous
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly attitude are essential for success in this role
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices is beneficial
