Care is delivered by an interdisciplinary collaborative care team in accordance with the Edmonton Zone Addiction and Mental Health Program’s Principles of Care and Alberta Health Services’ values. Reporting to the Relief Team Program Manager and as a member of the collaborative interdisciplinary team, the CCA is responsible for direct patient care and participating in team meetings to develop care plans. The Addiction Recovery Centre offers a safe and supportive facility for individuals experiencing withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs. We need experienced, caring, strength based professionals to complement our Health Services Team. You will be responsible for direct client care including assessment, observation, and basic housekeeping tasks, reporting your observations to the nurse. You will operate within a busy multidisciplinary team environment and must demonstrate strong organizational skills to communicate effectively with a diverse range of clients, professionals, and the public. The casual shifts include 8 hour shifts days/evenings and 12 hours shifts day/night 24/7. You will report direct observations to the nurse and participate in team meetings to develop care plans for clients.
As a Client Care Assistant, you will work as a team member with all staff assisting in the provision of supportive care to clients with addictions. Your primary duties include providing supportive care to clients, ensuring a safe and secure facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff and contributing to a therapeutic environment through interaction with clients. As part of an interprofessional team, you will contribute to the delivery of residential services to persons with an addiction promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. You will support clients to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will also work collaboratively with other health and service providers to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Current Applied Suicide Intervention Training certification required. Current Non Violent Crisis Intervention Training certification required Basic computer and email skills required.
Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in an adult acute practice setting as a Health Care Assistant, Mental Health Aide or Psychiatric Aide. Experience working with clients with addictions and mental health concerns. Ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads and work conditions. Ability to respond to new needs in the role as they arise within initiative and self-directedness.
