These roles will be located in our Edmonds office, Burnaby, BC.

As a Co-op student, you will learn and experience:

For the available Civil/Structural Engineering positions, duties can also include the following:

Carry out steel and/or concrete structural design work.

Carry out structural analysis work.

Prepare sketches for drafting and assist in the preparation of drawings.

Review shop drawings, and other contractor submittals.

Gather information to support project needs.

Data processing to support ongoing analysis, design or investigation work.

Carry out field inspections during construction or field investigations.

Assist in the preparation of engineering documentation.

Carry out various other activities as required to support Engineering staff on their projects.

Participate in high value, multi-disciplinary project work and gain valuable insight into the organization and implementation.

What you bring

To qualify as a candidate, individuals must be enrolled in a Co-op Program and have yet to graduate from a recognized

post-secondary institution in Canada.

Completed a minimum of 3rd year of Civil or Structural engineering studies at an accredited university or institute of

technology.

Have an interest in reinforced concrete and structural steel design

A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License (or equivalent)

The candidate would additionally benefit from:

A basic knowledge of the principles of the electrical power system

Good analytical skills

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Good written and verbal communications skills

What we offer

As a condition of employment at BC Hydro, a background check clearance will be required. This may include: reference

checks, education verification, employment verification, criminal record check, drivers abstract review, and a drug and
alcohol test.

All positions will be hired first as a four month work term. For some positions, there is opportunity to extend, to eight

months.

Students are expected to work at the job location for their co-op role and it is the student’s responsibility to relocate

themselves if necessary.

Please be advised that this role has been assessed as safety sensitive and pre-qualification alcohol and drug testing will be
required as a pre-condition to employment.

Some work days may be spent in the field in all weather conditions. Occasional overnight travel is required.

Flexible work model role definitions:

Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home based on the type of work
they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for each position and the operational requirements.
Employees also have the right to work full-time from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person
time.

Field - No work from home option
Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.
Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week
