Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistants to provide high-quality support to individuals in an emergency homeless shelter setting. The ideal candidate will assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and ensure the safety and well-being of clients. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration as prescribed and monitor for adverse reactions
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding if necessary
- Support patients with dementia or cognitive impairments through compassionate engagement and supervision
- Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe and comfortable environment
- Help with transfers and heavy lifting using proper techniques to ensure safety for both client and caregiver
- Document care provided accurately and communicate effectively with healthcare team members
- Support patients with hospice or end-of-life care needs with dignity and respect
Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, or home care settings preferred
- Knowledge of patient care practices, including medication administration and dementia care
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or special needs
- Strong caregiving skills combined with patience, empathy, and excellent communication abilities
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and assisting with mobility tasks
- Ability to perform light cleaning duties to maintain hygiene standards
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed; reliability is essential for consistent patient support
