We are looking to add the following to our team:
Civil Superintendent / Field Construction Manager to join our team:
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license, and be willing to travel
- 2 to 6 years of construction experience as a Superintendent or similar direct supervisory role.
- Combination of work experience and/or technical training in an industry-related trade certification/education program.
- Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental protection practices and procedures as they apply to common construction processes.
- Solid understanding of current construction practices.
- Ability to guide safe work practices in a high-pressure environment while maintaining project safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
- Working knowledge of construction documents, contracts, costs, and budgets.
- Working knowledge of scheduling and project management.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple project stakeholders, interpret stakeholders’ needs, and identify solutions.
- Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to use Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with scheduling software.
- Must have Standard First Aid, H2S, Ground Disturbance II, WHMIS 2015 and CSTS 2020 or CSO tickets .
- Leadership for Safety Excellence Training will be considered an asset
- Must be willing to adhere to all of our company health and safety policies including our Drug and Alcohol Policy
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains strong client and employee relationships.
- Effective communication and the ability to collaborate with multiple departments.
- Responsible for notification of change to assist project management with change management initiatives.
- Demonstrates leadership in health, safety and environmental protection on the project.
- Applies the requirements of the Project Specific Safety Program (PSSP) to promote overall compliance of DCL/SEI HS&E standards, applicable OH&S Acts, regulations and codes with all employees and subcontractors on the project.
- Ensures project materials are scheduled, supplied and work is completed in compliance with the Project Quality Program.
- Ensures that projects are built according to approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable building codes and high-quality standards are maintained.
- Develops, maintains, and drives the construction schedule in conjunction with the project team; ensures project milestones and completion dates are met.
- Strong knowledge of RFI, creation, submission and execution of direction given in RFI response.
- Supervises field employees, makes sure their work is planned and performed efficiently and makes sure their timesheets are accurately coded.
- Mentor project team members in order to contribute to their development and career growth.
- Provide performance feedback and recommend areas of improvement to the team on a continual basis.
- Leads project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to monitor and support the project’s ongoing progression.
- Maintains a thorough daily report that accurately tracks site progress, events, inspections and issues.
- Assist the estimation team on quantity take offs, schedule review or other estimating tasks as required.
- Review subcontractor scopes and pricing as needed.
- Assist in the project kick off phase including leading required scope preplanning, contact submissions, scheduling, safety plans, eco plans and quality plans.
- Ensure an understanding of all project scope requirements.
- Verify contract documents and blueprints for accuracy ahead of internal and external distribution.
- Project coordination including attending site meetings, identifying and pricing work extra to the contract, coordinating and scheduling the project with the customer, invoicing, collections, and resolving any disputes involving the customer and any other third parties.
- Verify job site quantities. This is done either through internal survey, external survey or plan take offs.
- Ensure project close out items are completed including documentation hand overs and post constitution inspections are completed and approved.
- Control site logistics, maximize efficiencies, minimize deficiencies of all work including all subcontractors, suppliers, and employees.
Location
This position will be required to work in various locations throughout Alberta. For work away from home camp accommodations or hotel and meal allowance will be provided.
