Description

Title: CNC Programmer

Reports to: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Based at: 24 Napoleon Rd., Barrie, Ontario

Shift: 4:00 pm to 12:30 am

Job Purpose: To program CNC fabrication equipment and assist department by processing requests for nests and corrections. Responsible for maintaining an accurate and up-to-date program data base and evaluating existing programs for material and labour savings. Processes new product requests to create the programs for fabrication and develop the engineering master to guide production.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Print and release work orders
  • Nest like materials together
  • Report nested marked improvements
  • Troubleshoot all equipment
  • Validate new programs at the floor and adjust engineering masters accordingly
  • Support programming requirement for the lasers, turret presses, and auto benders
  • Create new turret, press, laser, and auto bender programs as required
  • Determine optimal fabrication process for new and existing parts
  • Examine program ensuring on an on-going basis to reduce scrap and maximize efficiencies.
  • Engineering master (EM) creation & maintenance
  • Work with all necessary programming software
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area in accordance to 5S principles
  • Continue to grow Lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement to product and processes
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED or 2 - 3 years relevant experience
  • 2 - 3 years’ experience CNC programming in a sheet metal environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook),
  • ERP or MRP system; Visual Manufacturing preferred
  • Previous CNC experience with Amada turret Software, along with the ability to work with and comprehend various CNC programming software
  • Able to read, understand and interpret part drawings as well as work with CAD files
  • Previous experience working with Brake Press, Panel Benders and Lasers an asset
  • Fully proficient and able to independently program all machines
  • Capable of troubleshooting & fixing machine run issues. Technical support for production
  • Ability to recognize and recommend program and process improvements.
