SENIOR CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR
POSITION TYPE: Full-Time
SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday. Potential for overtime and weekend work.
SALARY: $50,000 – will pay more based on skill and experience
POSITION LOCATION: Winnipeg, MB
JOB DESCRIPTION
Red Gorilla Renovations is seeking an experienced construction estimator to join our team.
Red Gorilla Renovations is a Winnipeg-based company dedicated to working with clients to find innovative solutions for their home renovation needs. Whether clients are looking to complete small renovations, update a kitchen or bathroom, or do a full home refresh, RGR can help bring a quality custom finish to any space.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on site measure and scope discussed with potential clients, schematic drawings and specifications
- Establish and set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures to ensure future costing is accurate to time/cost of successfully secured projects
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
- Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepare the most accurate estimate quote/estimate
- Prior to site starting, coordinate sub-trades to align schedules.
- Collaborate with clients to determine their construction needs.
- Prepare and maintain project budgets
- Support the project delivery team
- Use computer software including Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD Computer Aided Drafting/Design (CAD), Microsoft Outlook, Primavera, Revit, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of secondary school.
- Several years of experience as a construction estimator or as a qualified tradesperson in a construction trade such as plumbing, carpentry or electrical ideal as we are a residential/commercial contractor so a wide range of projects quoted.
- 5 plus years of experience completing estimates for a variety of residential and commercial construction projects.
- Extensive knowledge of building codes, construction industry and current labour, material and equipment costs.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Drafting/Design (CAD), Microsoft Outlook
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Collaborative
- Customer service skills
- Experience managing various projects at once
- Ability to multi-task on a variety of Projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Prepare and apply for permits for upcoming projects
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Successful candidates must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check
- This position may be required to work evenings for occasional estimate or meeting
- This position may be required to travel within the surround bedroom communities around Winnipeg
- This position may be required to work overtime (For appointments but anything over 40 hours in a week is paid at time and a half)
