The Suncor Energy Centre for the Performing Arts (SECPA) at Holy Trinity Catholic High School is a state of the art performing arts centre that was created through a proud partnership between the Fort McMurray Catholic School Board, Suncor Energy and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Fostering partnerships and meeting community needs were the driving forces behind the initiative that created this dynamic facility for the Wood Buffalo region.
The Centre serves as a major instructional space for Holy Trinity Catholic High School, and is a cultural hub that offers a number of visual and performing arts programs for community members and groups to utilize. The Centre is also home to Uptown! at SECPA for dance, music and performing arts programming.
We are currently seeking a dynamic, engaged and enthusiastic individual for the role of Assistant Manager. This position advocates for the performing arts and professionally represents SECPA and the Catholic School Division in the community. The Assistant Manager plays a critical role in assisting the development of a sound and sustainable business model for SECPA so that it continues to be an important asset to the Catholic Schools and the local performing arts community.
As part of a dynamic and diverse team, the Assistant Manager’s portfolio focuses on UpTown! At SECPA to develop and deliver outstanding performing arts programming to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. This includes dance programming, music programming, musical theatre and other performing arts activities to meet the ever-changing needs of the Wood Buffalo region.
Qualifications
Certificate or diploma in Recreation & Sport Management, Theatre Management, Business Administration or equivalent
Minimum 2 years experience working in the performing arts field in a leadership role with supervision over direct reports
Strong background in customer service
Excellent communication, time management, relationship building and conflict resolution skills
Strong computer knowledge including Google platform and Microsoft office
Use of graphic design programming (e.g. Canva) is considered an asset
This job requires the ability to move between different roles as needed, so flexibility, creativity and attention to detail are essential for success
Key Areas of Responsibility
Plan, schedule, market and deliver dance, music and other performing arts programming
Recruit instructors, negotiate and administer employment contracts
Manage all instructors and assistants including, but not limited to, training, compensation, performance management, organization development, safety, wellness, employee motivation and engagement
Work closely with the SECPA Manager to develop budgets for all programs, events, and other opportunities that arise
Handle financial transactions that pertain to UpTown! at SECPA programs, and assist in other financial areas as needed.
Market and promote the SECPA brand of service offerings
Support the Manager in the day-to-day operations of SECPA
Other duties, as assigned, by the Manager
Work Schedule
The Suncor Energy Centre for the Performing Arts operates 12 months per year
The position is 8 hours per day/40 hours per week
The work schedule will vary to meet the operational needs of SECPA which often extends to evenings and weekends
