Job Statement:
The basic function of the LBM Desk Associate is to assist in the sale of lumber, building materials and hardware.
Qualifications:
- Experience in customer service and sales is essential.
- Experience in a Building Centre environment as an LBM Associate or Hardware Salesperson is an asset.
- Knowledge of lumber, building materials and hardware is required.
- Basic knowledge of safe construction practices is an asset.
- The ability to work co-operatively in an open-plan team environment is essential.
- The flexibility and adaptability to work within an ever-changing environment is essential.
- The mathematical ability to perform basic arithmetic and accuracy in preparing calculations and quotes is essential.
- A detail oriented, self-starter who can accomplish tasks with minimal supervision is essential.
- The ability to deal with various personality types and the ability to cope effectively within changing situations in a high-pressure environment is essential.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure that every customer is greeted in a friendly, respectful, and genuine way.
- Assist the customer in locating and comparing product choices by demonstrating a thorough knowledge of product options and features.
- Wherever possible and appropriate recommend additional items to help the customer complete their project.
- Help customers over the phone, in person and over email.
- Process complete and accurate paperwork.
- Perform other job-related duties as required.
