Iceavik Nordic Wellness Spa is preparing to open Newfoundland & Labrador’s first Nordic wellness destination. Iceavik will offer a unique and luxurious experience that combines advanced wellness treatments with elements of Nordic tradition and design. We are seeking a skilled, dependable, and proactive Facilities & Maintenance Technician to join our team and help ensure our spa is safe, beautiful, and operating at the highest standard.
This hands-on role is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the spa's buildings, equipment, and outdoor spaces. The successful candidate will take pride in preventative maintenance, responding to maintenance requests, and creating an exceptional environment for both guests and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, and mechanical equipment (within training and qualifications)
- Conduct daily facility inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns
- Maintain the Nordic circuit, outdoor amenities, treatment areas, and guest spaces to the highest standard
- Perform seasonal property maintenance, including snow clearing coordination, groundskeeping, landscaping support, and general exterior upkeep
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and operational issues
- Coordinate and oversee external contractors when specialized repairs or servicing are required
- Maintain maintenance logs, equipment records, and inventory of tools and supplies
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards
- Assist with facility setup, improvements, and special projects as needed
- Support the pre-opening setup, commissioning, and ongoing operation of the spa
Qualifications & Experience
- General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and mechanical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and complete a wide variety of maintenance tasks independently
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all seasons
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work
- Valid driver's licence
- Trade certification (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, millwright, etc.) is considered an asset but is not required
Compensation
- Competitive salary of $26.00-$30.00 per hour commensurate with experience (expected 40 hours per week)
