Field Forestry Foreman
Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Field Forestry Foreman to oversee forestry field operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and environmental standards. The successful candidate will provide leadership to field crews, support project planning and execution, and act as a key liaison between field staff, clients, and management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise forestry field crews in vegetation management, forest inventory, timber development, silviculture, and related forestry projects.
- Coordinate daily field operations, including schedules, resources, and work planning to meet project objectives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, environmental regulations, and client requirements.
- Conduct field assessments, inspections, quality assurance reviews, and data collection.
- Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to field staff and junior forestry personnel.
- Support project planning, reporting, and resource allocation.
- Maintain accurate field records, maps, data, and project documentation.
- Identify operational challenges and implement solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Communicate regularly with project managers, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Support incident investigations, hazard assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Operate company vehicles and equipment safely, including towing trailers when required.
Qualifications:
- Some years of experience in forestry operations, field supervision, or resource management.
- Strong knowledge of forestry practices, silviculture
- Proven leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience towing trailers and operating trucks in off-highway and remote conditions.
- Must be available and willing to travel extensively to remote field locations.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
- Experience working in remote and challenging field environments.
- Knowledge of provincial forestry regulations and industry best practices.
- First Aid certification and demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
- Experience managing multiple projects and field crews simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, including report preparation and data management.
Employment Terms:
- Seasonal position.
- Accommodation will be provided for work assignments requiring overnight stays away from the employee's home base.
