We are looking for an experienced Senior Contract Specialist to support mining operations and project activity in British Columbia. This Long-term Contract opportunity will focus on shaping commercial agreements from planning through completion while helping the business make informed, compliant purchasing decisions. The role suits a detail-oriented individual who can balance risk, stakeholder needs, and vendor relationships in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Responsibilities:
- Direct competitive sourcing activities, including RFQs and RFPs, from initial scope development through vendor selection, award, and finalized agreement execution.
- Draft, assess, maintain, and conclude a broad range of commercial agreements, including fixed-price, unit-based, reimbursable, and amended contract structures.
- Review pricing models, commercial submissions, and cost details to support fair, compliant, and commercially effective procurement outcomes.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers and contractors to secure practical terms, balanced obligations, and appropriate risk allocation.
- Oversee changes, amendments, and contract revisions to ensure documentation remains accurate and aligned with business and commercial requirements.
- Track supplier performance, critical dates, deliverables, and contractual obligations to help ensure all parties meet agreed commitments.
- Identify and escalate legal, commercial, and contractual concerns, particularly where terms fall outside standard expectations or present elevated risk.
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, projects, finance, and external vendors to align agreements with operational needs and resolve contract-related issues.
- Maintain complete contract files, logs, and audit-ready records, while using ERP and contract management tools to preserve data quality, reporting accuracy, and visibility of contract status.
- Apply AI-enabled tools where appropriate to improve contract administration efficiency, reporting, and document management processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Law, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
- At least five years of experience in contract administration or contract management, ideally within mining, heavy industry, or another asset-intensive environment.
- Strong background in commercial negotiations, bid evaluation, and management of supplier or contractor agreements.
- Working knowledge of procurement governance, contract law fundamentals, and commercial risk assessment.
- Experience with RFx processes, ERP platforms, SAP, and standard business software such as Microsoft Office and collaboration tools.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and detailed documentation.
- Exposure to Indigenous engagement frameworks and procurement coordination involving First Nations partners would be considered an asset.
