The Opportunity:
BluMetric Environmental Inc. is searching for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Air Quality Engineer / Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will support projects related to Air Quality Assessments, Emission Summary and Dispersion Modelling Reports, ECA/EASR Applications and annual reporting requirements (ECA, NPRI, GHG).
Job Responsibilities:
- Completing site inspections to identify air emission sources and collect data necessary to complete Emission Summary and Dispersion Modelling (ESDM) Reports.
- Reviewing industrial processes to develop air emission source inventories and estimating contaminant emission rates using different methodologies (i.e., emission factors, engineering calculations, engineering judgment, etc.).
- Conducting air dispersion modelling using AERMOD, ASHRAE, and other atmospheric dispersion models.
- Developing detailed technical documents and spreadsheets.
- Data analysis and interpretation.
- Preparation of Emission Summary and Dispersion Modelling Reports for ECA applications and EASR registrations.
- Preparing annual emission report submissions (ECA, NPRI, GHG).
- Preparing proposal writing and costing estimates.
- Applying project management principles including schedule, budget, invoicing, client liaison and resource allocations.
Key Qualifications, Education, and Skills:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering (Environmental, Chemical) discipline.
- Minimum of 3 to 4 years of relevant employment/consulting experience.
- Registered with, or eligible for registration with, Professional Engineers Ontario.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and provincial legislation and regulations relating to environmental air emissions.
- Understanding of various industrial and chemical sector processes.
- Knowledge of air pollution control systems and concepts.
- Ability to utilize basic scientific principles, operational practices, and existing technologies to estimate emissions and develop compliance solutions.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office, and dispersion models such as AERMOD, AHSRAE and/or CALPUFF.
- Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills and be able to respond positively to pressure and be flexible in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent written and verbal skills are required.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
- Experience with environmental nuisance issues such as dust, odour and noise.
- Must be willing and capable of travelling as well as working outdoors year-round, climb ladders and stairs, and work at elevated heights.
- Occasional travel and overtime may be required.
