In-House Accountant – Full-Time Position

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our Accounting and Administrative Department.
The Controller will oversee the company’s financial operations, accounting processes, reporting, budgeting, cash flow, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, hands-on, and able to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and priorities.
Experience in the construction industry is considered a strong asset.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the company
- Supervise bookkeeping, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Review and oversee payroll processing
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Monitor company cash flow and prepare cash-flow projections
- Prepare and oversee monthly government remittances, including DAS, GST and QST
- Manage bank and credit card reconciliations
- Monitor project costs, budgets, profitability and margins
- Review job costing and identify budget or margin discrepancies
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and financial reports for management
- Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collection procedures
- Review supplier invoices and payment schedules
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records
- Implement and maintain proper accounting procedures and internal controls
- Coordinate with external accountants for year-end reporting and financial requirements
- Assist management with financial analysis and business decisions
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, tax and government requirements
- Supervise and support members of the accounting and administrative team as required
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of accounting and financial management experience
- Experience in the construction or renovation industry is a strong asset
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting and job costing
- Ability to manage multiple files and priorities simultaneously
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Professional and dependable
Required
- Bilingual – French and English
- Strong knowledge of QuickBooks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Windows
Strong knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and government remittances
Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
