Job Opportunity: Water Truck Driver

We are seeking an experienced and professional Water Truck Driver. The successful candidate will join an established and growing company, building some of Calgary’s most prominent landscape projects. The Water Truck Driver works with the Logistics Manager and Watering Coordinator to deliver water, equipment, and materials in a safe and timely manner around the Calgary region. Drivers will inspect their vehicles, load materials, and haul out of our Balzac yard on a daily basis. At Landform, we excel through efficiency, teamwork, professionalism, and accountability.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Vehicle Operation: Operate single or double-axle commercial motor vehicles to transport water and materials within the Calgary region.
- Site Execution: Lead the execution of complex or large-scale watering assignments and evaluate site conditions to make decisions on water application (volume, timing, and distribution).
- Inspections & Maintenance: Conduct mandatory pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections (tires, lights, signals, brakes). Maintain cleanliness of the truck (cab and exterior) and perform emergency roadside repairs or advanced troubleshooting when necessary.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow and document all safety procedures and traffic laws. Secure all loads according to DOT standards.
- Administrative Tracking: Maintain detailed and accurate logs for water usage, job codes, materials, and time tracking.
- Coordination & Leadership: Act as a field liaison between watering operations and construction/maintenance crews. Coordinate with the Watering Coordinator to identify priority or high-demand tasks.
- Mentorship ( for more senior levels): Train and mentor other Water Truck Drivers in safety, inspections, and operational best practices.
- Communication: Report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel and report any accidents immediately.
Requirements:
- Class 3 License or Class 1 (3 years driving experience required).
- Air Brake Endorsement.
- CSTS and First Aid Certifications.
- Knowledge of the Calgary area and navigating with GPS.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of water truck experience; plant and sod watering knowledge is a significant asset.
- Proficiency in hauling trailers and securing loads to DOT standards.
- Physically fit: Ability to lift 50 lbs and bend, stoop, squat, or stand for extended periods.
- Strong verbal and digital communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Punctual, dependable, and able to adapt to a changing seasonal schedule (8–12 hour days).
