Ourclient is currently looking for a Waste Sorting Specialist to join their team in Nanaimo, BC, or Saanichton, BC. As a Waste Sorting Specialist, you’ll be part of a team that prioritizes environmental responsibility, operational efficiency, and community impact.

Responsibilities
- Sort and separate recyclable materials to ensure proper categorization and contamination control.
- Operate and maintain yard equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and compactors, to move and organize materials safely.
- Monitor and manage inventory of recyclable materials, ensuring they are stored in designated areas to prevent mix-ups.
- Inspect incoming waste streams for contaminants and remove non-recyclable items to comply with industry standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace by stacking materials properly and keeping pathways clear for equipment and staff.
- Follow strict safety protocols when handling hazardous materials or operating machinery.

Qualifications
- Experience in recycling or a related field is an asset, but not required.
- Familiarity with recyclable materials and sorting practices.
- Experience operating yard equipment (e.g., forklifts, skid steers) an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Able to lift, stand, walk, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
