Overview
The Renegades Winter Academy is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Hockey Coaches to join our team for the upcoming season. This role offers an exciting opportunity to mentor young athletes, develop their hockey skills, and foster a positive team environment. Coaches will be responsible for leading practices, instructing players, and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork. Prior experience in teaching or coaching is preferred, and familiarity with swimming is a nice-to-have skill that can enhance the overall training experience. This paid position is ideal for individuals passionate about sports, youth development, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Lead and organize hockey practices tailored to various skill levels
- Instruct players on fundamental skating, puck handling, shooting, and game strategies
- Promote safety protocols during all activities and ensure a positive, inclusive environment
- Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership among participants
- Monitor player progress and provide constructive feedback to support skill development
- Assist in organizing game day activities and support tournament preparations
- Engage with parents and guardians regarding player progress and program updates
- Incorporate swimming or water safety activities as part of holistic athlete development (if applicable)
Qualifications
- Prior experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring youth in sports settings
- Knowledge of hockey fundamentals and techniques
- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate young athletes
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to dynamic environments
- Enthusiasm for youth development and fostering a positive sporting experience
- Swimming skills or familiarity with water safety protocols are considered a plus but are not mandatory
- Must be reliable, responsible, and committed to creating a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants
Pay: $10,000.00 per year
