We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Attendant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of linens and garments in a hotel environment. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
Duties
- Clean hotel linens and towels using appropriate washing techniques and chemicals.
- Operate commercial washing machines and dryers safely and effectively.
- Sort, fold, and organize clean laundry for distribution throughout the hotel.
- Sort, organize, keep track of dirty linens in the hotel chute room.
- Inspect items for stains or damages before treating and report any issues to management.
- Maintain cleanliness of the laundry area.
- Ensure that all laundry equipment is functioning properly and report any maintenance needs.
- Adhere to safety protocols while handling chemicals and operating machinery.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure compliance with cleanliness standards.
- Work directly with our full time Housekeeping Manager to ensure daily tasks and housekeeping operations are fulfilled.
- Provide excellent communication to the Director of Operations, General Manager, Housekeeping Manager, and all other Managers regarding any issues on a regular basis.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate housekeeping staff, fostering a positive work environment.
- Ensure the correct handling of guest laundry and lost property in accordance with hotel and company standards.
- Ensure adherence to security of bedrooms and keys as detailed in the Standards and Procedures Manual.
- Carry out as necessary any job within the department such as being able to cover a possible sick call/staff shortage and clean rooms if needed.
- Maintain records of housekeeping activities, including staff performance and inventory usage. Report these findings to the Housekeeping Manager.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a laundry or housekeeping role within a hotel setting is preferred but not required.
- Ability to operate commercial laundry machines and equipment effectively.
- Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on cleanliness and quality.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift heavy loads (up to 50 pounds) and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
