Our story starts in 1911, manufacturing cables to support the distribution of power generated from Niagara Falls, Nexans has proudly contributed to Canada's growth. We have been involved in many of Canada's most ambitious projects; from dams, bridges, energy transmission and distribution to railroads and transportation. We are a vertically integrated manufacturer and our products are made at facilities located in Quebec, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.
The Weyburn Plant originally opened in an airplane hangar at the Weyburn Airport in 1954, and has been in the City of Weyburn since 1971. In Weyburn, we manufacture both overhead and underground low and medium voltage cable. The Production and Materials Scheduler reports directly to the Materials/Scheduling Manager supporting the plant by managing the raw materials planning and scheduling.
GETTING TO KNOW THE POSITION
The Production and Materials Scheduler supports the plant with material planning, purchasing and inventory functions.
HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
- MRP (Material requirement planning) via SAP and generating purchase orders.
- Liaison between supplier and Plant QA team to ensure the incoming materials are within specifications and quality standards.
- Ensuring the consistent and adequate supply of materials necessary for production.
- Track the incoming raw materials and Coordinate with Suppliers regarding on time deliveries and act as a key point of contact.
- Responsible to confirm the accuracy of receipt, and follow up with supplier for missing paperwork, late/missing shipments for raw materials.
- Monitor railcar movement in web-based system and the status of railcars. Communicate regularly with local rail department to ensure the timely delivery/release of rail cars.
- Support Physical inventory of all raw materials and WIP.
- Manage cycle count activities on Metals, Consignment materials, PVC etc. Investigate and resolve variances.
- Manage the inventory transaction processes in SAP to ensure inventory accuracy between physical stock and SAP stock.
- Prepare statistical reports on material coordination in terms of aging RM inventory.
- Support SAP scheduling and planning activities with fellow planner and act as a key point of contact when covering the absences.
- Liaison between production, inside sales and customer service teams from a customer demand perspective when needed.
- Create shipment planning report to ensure work orders within next 10-12 weeks are released for production floor scheduling.
- Facilitate and support any initiatives and projects to meet company strategy and KPI objectives.
- Support and administer Nexans Innovation (i.e. Connected Drums)
- Perform other transitional duties as necessary.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE ?
- Excellent computer skills especially in MRP, Microsoft Excel and Power point. Prior experience in SAP would be an asset.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Excellent mathematical skills
- Have a strong understanding of the production process including machine capacities.
- Time management, organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Have an understanding of products, sales, marketing and finance.
- Diploma in Business Administration
