About the role:
The Investments and Corporate Applications Services (ICAS) team requires designer with a strong background in Hyperion Planning and Reporting applications. This role offers an opportunity to apply your leadership and design knowledge within a global financial institution setting.
The individual will work effectively with our business analysts, business partners and account management to identify and design IT solutions that meet business needs. They will provide design and analysis leadership to both onshore and offshore developers assigned within these projects. The individual will use his/her knowledge of design, development, information security and IT architecture best practices to deliver robust applications that follow architectural processes and direction.
What will you do?
Deliver both high-level and detailed-level designs and implement Hyperion solutions based on business requirements and defined architectures
Provide mentoring and oversight to the development team in the delivery and implementation of development deliverables including participating in code reviews
Create required documentation such as design documents, unit test plans, transition and implementation documents
Collaborate with architects, designers/developers, business system analysts and testing specialists to deliver high quality solutions
Coordinate with both onshore and offshore teams to ensure coding, testing, debugging and implementation activities are completed as required
Analyze, define and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, interface design, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs
Contribute to defining timelines and project plans; analyze and estimate feasibility, time and scope
Ensure information security standards and requirements are incorporated into all solutions
Contribute to the ongoing support, stability and performance of application systems in production including problem analysis, resolution, and escalation and reporting as necessary.
Learn about our partners' business, existing applications, the infrastructure that supports them and the design patterns used
Champion SLF IT development methodologies and processes, ensuring they are followed for any solution
What do you need to succeed?
Proven expertise in the analysis, design and development within Hyperion tools
Minimum 7 years of progressive information technology experience with full application development life cycle and systems integration experience
Knowledge of EPM concepts, techniques, tools and delivery approaches
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and can explain concepts to both business and IT stakeholders
Proven technical leadership capabilities, and able to co-ordinate work tasks for developers
Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to analyze situations/problems systematically and deliver effective right-sized solutions in a timely manner
Experience working in Agile and Waterfall environments
Can work independently or within a multi site team environment
University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline
Experience in supporting financial services applications in an architectural or design capacity
Technical working experience with relational databases (Oracle/MS SQL Server).
Experience with integrating vendor packages into an established production environment consisting on various technologies and platforms
Occasional weekend / after-hours work may be required to support project implementations, system upgrades and support for production environments
IT supports internal business clients in Waterloo, Toronto and Wellesley. Occasional travel between these locations may be required.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
