Butcher – Abattoir/slaughter house

Kastelen Sausage –Ardrossan, AB

Family owned and operated meat processing facility located east of Ardrossan is looking to fill a
Full-Time butcher position for the abattoir/slaughter house, as soon as possible.

Rate of Pay: negotiable depending on experience

Full Time Hours – 40 – 44 hours per week, Monday to Friday, daytime shift

Duties Include:

  • Slaughter livestock
  • Remove viscera and other inedible parts from the carcasses
  • Remove bones from meat,
  • Cutting carcasses into sides and quarters into primal cuts for further cutting, processing or packaging
  • Maintenance and sanitation of slaughter house
  • Cut, trim & prepare standard cuts of meat,
  • Other duties as required and or assigned

Equipment Used:

  • Power cutting tools
  • Knives

Skills Required

  • Able to read, write, speak and comprehend fluent English instructions
  • Comfortable working in a refrigerated environment
  • Able to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to lift heavy loads (more then 45 kg or 100 lbs) safely
  • Able to work individually or within team environment
  • Problem solving
  • Task planning
  • Able to maintain accurate records
  • Must be bondable

Experience

  • Minimum of one year experience in a meat processing facility

Candidates must provide own transportation as there is no public transportation available
