Well, hello there!
Thanks for taking a break from your laptop, blueprints, or job site chaos to check out our posting.
Let’s get straight to it:
BEFORE YOU READ ANY FURTHER:
1. This is a custom residential / renovations Project Manager role.
2. A cover letter is mandatory.
If you can’t be bothered to send one, this probably isn’t going to work out. We’re big on attention to detail around here.
3. While most of our work is currently on the North Shore, we’re expanding and would love to connect with candidates in Langley and surrounding areas. That said, this doesn’t lock you into one location - our projects can take us across Metro Vancouver (including North Vancouver), so a bit of flexibility goes a long way.
---
Are YOU:
- Caring?
- A team player (not just at Friday beers)?
- A highly motivated, skilled problem-solver who dreams of fixing things?
- Someone with an insatiable appetite for learning and self-improvement (or at least a healthy interest in not screwing up)?
- Obsessed with customer service and even more obsessed with getting the details just right?
- An experienced contract negotiator who can haggle with a smile?
- Extremely comfortable with technology (if Smartsheets, Excel, and Gmail sound like your kind of jam)?
- A whiz at project costs and estimating—and maybe even excited about typing out 40 words per minute of awesomeness?
If any of this is starting to feel like a mirror reflection, then… keep reading!
Who Are We?
We are Sprucehill Homes, an award-winning custom home builder and renovator based in North Vancouver. We specialize in taking people’s dreams and turning them into homes they can actually live in (no, we don’t just make Pinterest boards). Most of our work happens on the North Shore (think Deep Cove to Lions Bay), but we venture out to Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, and occasionally, Maple Ridge—because adventure, right?
Your Skills & Experience:
We’re looking for a Project Manager with the magic touch to handle projects ranging from $150,000 to $2,000,000. If you can create budgets, scope docs, schedule trades, and make the right people show up on time, we’re talking to you. Oh, and if you can juggle change orders while keeping things on budget (without breaking into a cold sweat), even better.
You’ll need:
- 3+ years as a Residential Project Manager or some fancy construction management degree.
- The ability to handle sticky situations with staff, trades, or clients (bonus points if you do it without needing a referee).
- Solid knowledge of building codes and construction best practices. If someone’s trying to BS you about a structural issue, you should be able to call it.
The Job:
As our Project Manager, you’ll wear a lot of hats (figuratively, we’re not a hat store). Your job will include things like:
- Client management: Make sure they’re so happy they can’t wait to tell their friends about us.
- Site management: Quality control, keeping timelines, and juggling trades like a pro.
- Meetings: You’ll be the glue between clients, designers, trade partners, and our team.
- Budgeting & Updates: Keep things on track from start to finish (no one likes surprises here).
- You’ll be working closely with Erik Jensen, our Founder and CEO, and the Design & Production teams to ensure everything is running smoothly.
What You Bring to the Table:
- A positive attitude that says, “I got this,” even when things get hairy.
- A knack for communicating clearly and effectively (so no one is left scratching their head).
- Ability to keep your team organized and motivated (and maybe even smiling).
Perks (Besides Getting to Work With Us):
- $90,000 to $110,000 (depending on how awesome you are).
- 3 weeks paid vacation.
- Health benefits (because you’ve earned it).
- Mileage allowance (so your car isn’t running on fumes).
- Cell allowance (we know you’ll need it to keep things running).
- Sweet laptop + dual screen monitor setup for your mobile office if you don't already have one.
What We’re All About:
At Sprucehill Homes, we’re big on teamwork—two of our team members have been with us for over 10 years, and others are clocking in at 5+ years. We believe in keeping a light-hearted, family-like atmosphere where everyone cares about what they do and has fun doing it. And no, it's not that toxic "family" work bs you see on social media. We work hard and laugh hard too. You gotta keep a balance!
We’ve grown fast (doubled in size last year, planning to do it again), and our commitment to quality is unwavering. We have won a Georgie and a HAVAN award and have been finalists 22 other times, sooooooo we’re not just blowing smoke.
Keeping Company Culture:
- We get together once every six weeks for beers and appetizers, so you can unwind with the crew.
- Every year, we throw in a company-wide camping trip to Whistler with trade partners and families (it’s optional, but come on—it’s camping!).
- We have weekly team checkins with the whole team to make sure nothing is being overlooked, discuss safety and just generally say hi
- You'll have formal weekly one on one's with your colleagues and frequent checkins with Erik to make sure any questions you have get answered - we all win together (and sometimes we learn together - that's OK too!)
