Job Summary
Gay Lea Foods is seeking a skilled and reliable Licensed Millwright to join our maintenance team at the Hamilton, ON location. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment to support safe and efficient plant operations. This position primarily works the midnight shift and requires flexibility for schedule changes, vacation coverage and overtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production and processing equipment used in food manufacturing.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and support basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Conduct TIG welding for equipment repairs, adjustments, and fabrication.
- Utilize a computerized maintenance work order system to document work, track tasks, and maintain accurate records.
- Support general facility maintenance, including occasional outdoor and rooftop tasks.
- Operate, or be willing to obtain certification to operate, equipment such as scissor lifts, forklifts, and genie booms.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and food safety regulations.
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Millwright License (required).
- Minimum 3 years of Millwright experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Proven TIG welding skills (asset).
- Mechanical aptitude with basic electrical troubleshooting ability.
- Experience working with a computerized maintenance work order system.
- HVAC experience (asset).
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing facility (asset).
- Strong problem‑solving skills and teamwork capabilities.
- Willingness to work primarily midnights with flexibility for shift changes and overtime.
- Comfortable working at heights and performing outdoor or rooftop tasks.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced factory environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, temperature changes, and occasional outdoor conditions.
- Physical demands include lifting, standing for extended periods, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
