TEMPORARY PAYROLL SYSTEMS CLERK (FULL-TIME)

TEMPORARY VACANCY

One (1) Temporary Full-Time (1.0 FTE, 35 hours/week) Payroll Systems Clerk (12- month position)

LOCATION: Bluewater District School Board Education Centre, Chesley

SALARY: $25.47 – $26.28/hr (Aug 31/19)

COMMENCING: As soon as possible and ending May 1, 2020 or earlier if incumbent returns or circumstances change

SUPERVISOR: Anna Gowan, Supervisor of Payroll

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Payroll Systems Clerk is responsible for all aspects of a computerized payroll using the integrated payroll/personnel software (IPPS.net) system and Smartfind Express.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Payroll production: confirm accuracy of employee pay, make manual salary calculations, process ROEs, work with multiple deductions, absence recording
  • Transfer timesheet data to payroll system
  • Verify and update position/payroll information as it is received
  • Correspond with employees regarding salary and position information as required
  • Retrieve data for reports as required
  • Maintain employee files and records and assist the payroll supervisor as required
  • Prepare benefit, federation, government dues payments
  • Monthly benefit reconciliations
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Community College Diploma in Accounting/Business Administration or equivalent experience and education
  • Minimum 2 - 5 years payroll experience in a public sector unionized environment with more than 1000 employees

ASSETS:

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification (PCP) - From the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA)
  • Previous experience using IPPS (Integrated Payroll Personnel System) or similar payroll database software (Oracle, SAP)
  • Ability to read, understand and apply collective agreement details
  • Experience with current payroll practices, including knowledge of the Employment Standards Act
  • High aptitude in computer skills using various computerized software: Integrated Payroll/Accounting Software, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and HRIS Software
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of office procedures
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
