Travelers Transportation Services is seeking an experienced Dispatcher to join our growing transportation team in Brampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating local pickup and delivery operations in the Greater Toronto Area, communicating with drivers and customers, optimizing routes, and ensuring on-time service throughout the GTA and delivering into the Greater Montreal Area.
The ideal candidate has strong transportation dispatch experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Dispatch and coordinate drivers for daily pickup and delivery assignments.
- Planning Toronto-Montreal drivers out of Brampton on their routes
- Entering orders into TMS Software
- Monitor driver progress and provide support throughout the day.
- Optimize routes to maximize efficiency and service performance.
- Communicate with drivers regarding schedules, customer requirements, and service updates.
- Track shipments and update dispatch records accurately.
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve service-related issues.
- Coordinate with warehouse and operations staff to ensure smooth workflow.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare operational reports as required.
- Assist with after-hours coverage and operational support when necessary.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 3 years of transportation dispatch experience.
- Strong knowledge of GTA routes and traffic patterns. Knowledge of areas in Quebec is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with dispatch software, transportation management systems (TMS), and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service skills.
Preferred
- 5+ years of dispatch experience.
- Experience in LTL, truckload, courier, or last-mile delivery operations.
- Knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) & weight limitation regulations.
- Leadership or team lead experience.
- Bilingual skills are an asset.
