Position Summary
A Pawn Broker evaluates, purchases, sells, and provides collateral-based loans on a variety of items, including jewelry, electronics, tools, collectibles, and other valuables. The role requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, knowledge of product valuation, and adherence to company policies and legal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and appraise merchandise presented by customers.
- Determine loan values and purchase offers based on market conditions, item condition, and resale potential.
- Negotiate loan and purchase terms with customers.
- Process pawn loans, purchases, redemptions, renewals, and sales transactions accurately.
- Verify ownership and maintain records in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Test and inspect items for authenticity, functionality, and condition.
- Manage inventory, including pricing, merchandising, and tracking merchandise.
- Maintain accurate transaction records and customer information.
- Provide excellent customer service while resolving customer inquiries and concerns.
- Monitor and prevent fraudulent transactions and suspicious activity.
- Ensure the store remains clean, organized, secure, and professionally presented.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous retail, sales, customer service, or cash-handling experience.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to work with cash, valuables, and confidential information responsibly.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
